UP to 200 jobs could be created in Redditch if a major employer can be found to take up space which is about to become vacant in North Moons Moat.

Swiss engineering firm Eutectic is selling its Ravensbank Drive headquarters and moving to smaller premises in the town, leaving 48,416 sq ft of commercial space.

The company has engaged chartered surveyor John Truslove to find it new premises.

Mr Truslove said: "This is a particularly important development for the town on two counts.

"It makes available a significant office and warehouse building and also creates the rare opportunity for the town to attract a major employer.

"We will be liaising with the local authorities and investment agencies to secure a major sale at the same time as finding Eutectic the right premises within the town."

Offers of about £2.15 million are being sought for the freehold site, which offers 100 parking spaces, a self-contained concreted yard and a two-storey office block.

North Moons Moat is considered to be one of the best commercial and industrial locations in town.

Eutectic chief financial officer Steve Parker said: "We are committed to remaining in the town as we have skills and capabilities within our workforce which we need to retain."

The company employs 55 staff and Mr Parker said this figure could rise, despite moving to smaller premises.
