ARE you one of the thousands of people fed up with Worcestershire's unpredictable weather?

If so you could be planning to head off for far distant sunnier shores.

It may just be a few weeks until you bare your body on the beach, but the likelihood is it's not beautiful enough for a bikini just yet.

But all is not lost - there are a few ways to give yourself a makeover in time for your summer break.

The condition of your skin could be a number one concern. Why not cheat your way to slimmer, firmer thighs?

Yes, apparently it is possible. All you have to do is try Sargasso Seaweed and Dang Gui toning gel, by the Te Tao Tea for Body range. It's available for £6.95 from Boots and Superdrug.

The gel should be massaged into the skin daily which, it is claimed, will boost the body's natural detox system and will astringe and smooth the skin.

Estee Lauder also offers a body smoother, which is an exfoliating cream containing AHA. It's remarkably luxurious and costs £15.

Very dry skin can be pepped up with the Guinot instant repair moisturising oil (£41.50). It may be expensive, but it smells fabulous and feels good on the skin.

It may also be time to start thinking about removing unwanted hair. Home hair removal is getting easier. Immac has a new product which works just like other waxing ingredients but can remove hair as short as 2mm. It costs £8.99.

For more delicate areas why not try Immac's silky cream hair remover which can be used every two to three days and can be put on before getting into the shower. It costs £5.99.

If, however, you have decided enough is enough and you do book a last-minute deal, time may not be on your side. A good razor can still come to the rescue right up to the day of departure.

Most people's big fear when they hit the beach is the colour of their skin.

YOU could invest in a self-tan product. These not only supply a good colour but often have in-built UVA and UVB protection.

Marks & Spencer has a self-tan body cream for £7 and a spray for £7.

Or how about a tub of Tan Wipe? It's a self-tan product that acts just like a baby wipe. A large tub with 100 wipes costs £19.99 and is available from Safeway or Miss Selfridge. It only takes 30 minutes to try and can be topped up for a deeper colour.

While you are away why not try Bath & Body Works after sun aloe gel. It costs £5 and helps keep the skin cool.

Or you could try the range's bronzing cream for the hair. It should have your crowning glory glowing in the summer sun. Call 0207 580 0707 for stockists.

But if you really can't be bothered with doing-it-yourself at home, how about getting it seen to professionally?

Worcestershire has plenty of beauty salons to choose from. Most of them offer a variety of beauty processes.

A spokeswoman for Nicola's, in Henwick Road, St John's, said their beauty diary was full with people wanting treatments.

"We are really busy at the moment," she said. "People want waxing and self-tanning. Our sunbeds are also popular. Many of our customers want to look good before their holiday or a wedding."
