Matt Neal put on his Sunday best to race to two podium positions in rounds 17 and 18 of the British Touring Car Championships at Donington Park.

The Hanbury driver, at the wheel of the Pershore-based Team Dynamics Nissan Primera, finished second in both the Sprint and Feature races and he was absolutely delighted

"That was ace," he exclaimed. "It's just fantastic to be on the podium twice. Everything went great for us. The circuit is extremely hard on everything in the car, but everything was just the business."

And Anthony Reid, winner of the Sprint race and second in the Feature until Neal's fantastic late manoeuvre, added his thoughts to the list of plaudits.

"You've got to give it to Matt. It was an aggressive move and it worked," he said.

Neal recalled the last lap move that help snatch a brace of runners-up finishes.

"It was just the sort of time to put the hammer down," the Nissan driver said.

"I didn't think there would be enough room to get past, but I went wide to the hairpin and he locked his wheel and I wasn't going to let the chance go."

The newly crowned Michelin Cup for Independents champion celebrated his second successive title by recording his highest qualifying position of the season in third spot for last weekend's header. This gave him a "good feeling" about the weekend and he was proved right.

Italian pole driver Gabriele Tarquini lost his place on the opening lap of 15 in the Sprint and Reid and Neal were unpassable as they kept the chasing pack at bay. If Neal's smile was wide at that presentation, then imagine the delight at a repeat show later in the day.

The 33-year-old pushed Reid all the way in the 30 lap Feature race and his patience was rewarded right at the death.

However, Tarquini was dominant throughout and all three enjoyed the fastest of pit stops to ensure no change of position until Neal's spectacular late charge.

The Team Dynamics squad has become one of the most popular in the pit lane, while few other drivers have captured the hearts of the BTCC fans quite like Neal. The Worcestershire driver aims to repay that faith with another win before the season ends. After clinching a second Independents title Neal can now push all the way to repeat his memorable overhaul race triumph in 1999.
