ARP O50: Mrs S Joynes gave a talk on musical instruments. Members were amazed at her exceptional talent and knowledge of her subject, giving demonstrations of her ability by playing all of the instruments she had brought along with her.

The chairman gave a vote of thanks.

This was followed by the notices of forthcoming events and the raffle. The next meeting on August 23 is a "getting to know you" one with quizzes and a bring and buy.

Meetings are in Pershore Town Football Club, at 10.30am for 11am. Why not come and join us.

LAST NIGHT AT THE PROMS: Pershore people were treated to a really grand evening at the end of the town's millennium celebrations. The English Symphony Orchestra performed in Abbey Park to the delight of all who braved the changeable weather during the first half.

In the second half came rain, thunder and lightning, which brought out the multi-coloured brollies which were seen to move to the beat of the music.

Not even the finale of Rule Britannia, which was accompanied by a tremendous firework display in time to the music, was hindered by the weather.

Many Pershore people were absolutely overcome with the occasion and a big thank-you must go to Pershore Town Council for arranging such a marvellous event. Definitely a winner.

FLOWER AND CRAFT SHOW: Arrangements for the show, on August 12, at 1.30pm, in the Angel Hotel Riverside Gardens, are now nearly complete.

Schedules and entry forms are available from Carlton House Coffee Shop, Bridge Street, Blue, Broad Street, or the town council office in Bridge Street.
