A FATHER and son have returned home from their epic journey across the continents in memory of a "gentle giant" who died in a motorcycle accident.

Sixty-two-year-old Bob Eaton and his son Richard, 31, have arrived back from Oman to their Bewdley home having crossed Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey in memory of Bob's younger son David, who died last year.

After completing the mammoth four month 10,000 mile trip in Richard's Land Rover on Saturday, the pair will now begin collecting sponsorship funds for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust in tribute to 28-year-old David, who was killed in a road accident near Evesham.

The Long Lartin prison officer and Stourport Rugby Club player, described as a gentle giant, died when his Suzuki 600 motorbike was in collision with an Austin Montego.

Bob said: "We had a number of adventures during the trip, including being chased by gunmen with AK47s in Syria and being in Lebanon while the fighting was still going on.

"Now we are back, I have set up a bank account to receive donations for the charity which I really hope people will support."

For anyone wishing to contribute to the charity bank account at Bewdley's HSBC, the details are sort code 401013, account number 91311360.
