Congratulations to Pershore Town Council for organising the delightful "Last Night of the Proms" concert with fireworks, on Saturday evening at Abbey Park .
It was an extremely enjoyable celebration of the millennium, and the many people present, whatever their ages, entered into the spirit of the event. Even when the heavens opened it did not dampen the enthusiasm.
One elderly lady commented on her enjoyment, and that it was the latest she had been out for years.
Another member of the audience said she would willingly pay a few pennies more on her council tax for such an event to be held annually.
The children were generally excited and well behaved, and all had a lovely time. I have yet to hear a negative comment. Hopefully we could have more similar events in the future.
Many thanks to all concerned.
Meg Capel, Great Comberton.
Many readers have written to say what a splendid evening this was and to congratulate the organisers.
