A SCIENCE fiction spectacular with spooky sights and sounds comes to Ragley Hall, near Alcester, this weekend.

The Performing Arts Orchestra will invade the tranquil surroundings of the stately home on Saturday to perform a space-themed concert.

Close Encounters of the Classical Kind is divided into two parts, featuring a programme full of extra-terrestrial classics for well-dressed picnickers.

The audience will experience classical science fiction movie scores, including John Williams's theme from ET and other out-of-this-world compositions.The second half of the programme will begin with a performance of the music from science fiction classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey, complete with a series of fireworks and multi-coloured lighting effects.

The final piece will be the Star Wars theme, set to a backdrop of state-of-the-art lasers and 5,000 fireworks.

The concert grounds will open at 4.30pm.
