I WOULD like to sound out the reaction of the residents of Sidemoor who have been affected by the recent closure of Churchfields Road.

It is a very useful link for people to get to the town. Because of this closure, the only way in and out of the town is via Stourbridge Road or Broad Street/Crabtree Lane. Both these roads have a school entrance and are crowded during the morning rush hour.

Since the closure, going north towards Stourbridge Road is out of the question because of the queue. Turning south towards Broad Street and round Crabtree Lane is also not an easy way round the problem.

The Sidemoor First School attendant takes her life in her hands when she jumps into the road to enable children to cross. After all this, you still join the traffic queue outside ASDA.

We understand the residents of Churchfields Road have had little peace in the past through regular two-way traffic on that narrow section of road, but closing the road is not the solution. You only push the problem elsewhere.

One possible solution is if this road can be designated as a one way street; it would reduce the traffic disturbance and go some way towards a compromise for Sidemoor residents.
