TWO Redditch girls are feeling like royalty this week after winning a competition organised by St Stephen's Church, to honour the Queen Mother's 100th birthday.

Alma Aspindale and Charlotte Smith, who both attend Ridgeway Middle School, designed the front cover for a book of signatures being sent to the Queen Mum to celebrate her landmark birthday.

The delighted winners were presented with a special gift from Stationery Art Supplies in recognition of their creative talents.

Canon David Salt said: "We had more than 200 signatures in the book. We wanted to give people the chance to recognise the occasion and pay tribute to a wonderful lady."

Meanwhile, a celebratory service will be held on Friday from 7.30pm at St Stephen's.

The service will be conducted by Canon Salt and The Rev Andrew Smith, vicar of St George's.

There will be a variety of readings and traditional hymns and a fanfare will be performed by Redditch Sea Cadets.
