CHILDREN in Redditch are getting creative thanks to a holiday activities program at Forge Mill Museum.

Last week was Archaeology Week and children had the chance to design hands-on activities which will be permanently kept in the museum.

They were taught how to do fret-work and created jigsaw puzzles based on the designs of medieval floor tiles.

They also studied the subject of herbs and how monks grew them for medicine, the children then designed labels for the museum's own herb garden.

The creative youngsters then found out that history is not a load of rubbish as they investigated how litter and waste can tell a great deal about the person who left it behind for future generations.

There are still places left on the holiday program which continues until the end of next week. For more details call 62509.
