BARNARDS Green First travelled the short distance to Worcester Nomads on Saturday for this Worcester County League Division Two fixture.

WORCESTER NOMADS 1ST XI v BARNARDS GREEN 1ST XI

Nomads won the toss and inserted Barnards Green on a greenish looking wicket.

With the ball seaming around Nomads decision quickly bore fruit when the Green found themselves 20 for 3, Drew and Young repaired the damage to add 44 runs until Drew gave Dixon his third catch after a stand of 44, Creese and Young then added another 49 to take the Green on to 121 for 7.

Young meanwhile had made his third 50 on the trot, he went on to make a well struck 69 until he was caught out with the score on 142, ten more runs were added with the Green all out for 152 in the 48th over.

Pick of the bowlers for Nomads were Bowman who took 5-50 and Prickett whose 12 overs of spin took 4-24.

Nomads reply started badly when Young removed Lakin off stump in his third over, but Dixon and Jones repaired the damage to take Nomads within sight of victory.

Scullion came on first change and made it harder for Nomads and he removed Dixon when he clean bowled him for 37, but it was not to be the Green's day as Malcolm Jones continued to a very well made 99 only to be caught by Creese on 99 off the bowling of Drew when only two were needed for victory.

Points were 20 to Nomads and three to Barnards Green.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the Green 1st XI are away to Bewdley while Nomads visit Feckenham.
