ON a sunny afternoon at Mathon Court, one of West Malvern's old guard, Dave Cantrell, became a match winner.

Stourbridge elected to bat and progressed slowly to 92-3 until Dave Cantrell was brought on to bowl and proceeded to take five wickets for seven runs to reduce Stourbridge to 110 all out.

West Malvern in reply, after an excellent knock from Craig Dockery of 36, supported by Roy Blackshaw with 20 runs. The West collapsed to 89-9 but a tenacious stand from the captain, James Blackshaw (15no) joined by Dave Cantrell (14no) contrived an exciting finish to secure a win for West Malvern with two balls remaining.
