Nomads relished the sunshine of last weekend with some outstanding cricket in which team and individual performances gave some fine results; even though a weak 1st X1 was thrashed by the Herefordshire team at Pencombe and the Saturday 2nd X1 and 3rd X1 struggled in the league programme.

On Saturday in the critical Worcestershire League fixture against Barnards Green at Bransford the Nomads dismissed the Green for what was a low score on a superb batting pitch surrounded by a fast outfield. The fast left arm of British Army opening bowler,Steve Bowman, tore through the early batting with five wickets for 50 and he was well supported by the off spin of Andrew Prickett (4 for 26).

In reply the left handed Malcolm Jones was aggressive from the start of the Nomads reply and he narrowly missed a century, being dismissed for 99 with only two runs required for victory. Roger Dixon gave excellent support with 37.

On the following day in the fixture against the Border touring side from Oswestry Malcolm Jones was again in superb form and during the Nomads innings of 218 for four wickets declared he reached a rapid 94 with some fine straight driving.

He received support from David Pearson (78 not out) and Bill Jones (23). The visitors were indepted to Ken Yapp who took 4 wickets for 26 but their batting was unable to get on top of the early Nomads' bowling and finished 52 runs behind at the end. Even the spin bowling of Jon Dimont and Neal Harding (2 for 14) was unable to encourage a result.
