The barbecue and garden party held in the grounds of the Memorial Hall on Sunday, July 16 was a great success, due in no small part to the beautiful sunny weather.

There was a very high turnout, too many to count the organisers say. Everyone had a great time eating strawberries and cream, playing games and purchasing items from the various stalls. Over £400 was raised and this will be divided between the church and the Memorial Hall Funds, the organisers were delighted with this result. Thanks go to Mr and Mrs George Withers of Withers Fruit Farm for providing the strawberries, they were delicious, and Doreen Bond would like to say a special thank you to all those who provided cakes for her stall, and thank you to those who organised the event and those who supported it, it was a resounding success.

Notices have appeared on the village noticeboard advertising a Village Cycle Ride on August 20. The one last year was a great success and it's hoped this one will be even better. So come on, get those bicycles out of the shed and get them working. You have almost a month to do some practising before the event. This is a real family event and will be a very enjoyable day.

If anyone else is organising an event in the village and would like the details published in the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter the please let Mrs Patricia Wilkin know on (01531) 633853. I need to have the information by the Tuesday morning for publication the following Friday.

Remember most of the residents in the village read this paper and particularly the Village Voice page, if you want the name of the village in every week, you have to pass on to me the information to put in.

You do not have to write anything, just give me the bare event details either over the phone or preferably on a piece of paper and drop it through my door.
