COLWALL Primary School may not have the best tag-rugby team in the West Midlands but they can boast the most sporting.

Colwall qualified for the West Midlands event after winning a regional competition held at Ledbury.

RFU Youth Development officers Keith Bonser and Ian Bletcher kicked off the West Midlands Ford Tag Rugby Extravaganza last week at the University of Coventry and the young competitors played under the watchful eye of England international and Wasps player Phil Greening.

The event included more than 450 boys and girls from 40 primary schools in the area and they all received a certificate and a gift bag.

Astonfields Middle School from Bromsgrove lifted the cup beating Church Stretton Primary School 6-5 in the final.

Colwall were presented with the Sunday Express sponsored Fair Play Award for being the team that best exemplified the spirit of sportsmanship.

A proud Colwall head Richard Southall said that the award exemplified the spirit of sport encouraged in the school.

"We cheer as hard for the losers as we do for the winners," he said.
