GREEN-FINGERED pupils in Bledington have been getting to grips with the primary school's new garden.
Dig this: Tending the vegetable plot at Bledington are Heather Pearson, Joe Jarvis, James Crook, Madeline Milhench, Helen Lee and Vanessa Lee.
The garden was created by the Bledington School Association, whose members dug over an area of playing field to create it. Four parents did the hard digging and others helped the children put the finishing touches to the garden and plant it up.
Headteacher Helen Ephgrave said she was grateful to the parents for giving so much of their time and added: "We can't survive without our parents putting in all the effort that they do."
More good news for the school came recently with the results of this year's Key Stage 2 tests taken by pupils in their final year. The school has too few pupils to qualify for inclusion in the government's performance tables, but Mrs Ephgrave said pupils had achieved excellent results with many reaching level five, which is classed as exceptional performance for their age group. The Key Stage 1 results for seven-year-olds were also very good.
