SATURDAY June 17, sees the start of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Awareness Week. The theme for this year's MND Week is Racing Against Time.

This year is the MND Association's 21st birthday, and we are using the opportunity to commemorate achievements made and to look to future developments to improve the quality of life for people living with MND.

MND is a rapidly progressive fatal disease which robs people of two precious things - time to live and life itself. It races through the body leaving people unable to walk, talk or feed themselves, yet leaves the mind intact. Every day three people die of MND in this country.

The Worcester Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association is literally racing against time to raise funds to help support the 11 people who are living with MND in our area.

Nationally the Motor Neurone Disease Association is racing against time to provide advice and support to people with MND, their families and their carers, whilst improving understanding of the disease amongst health and social care professionals.

Finding a cure and treatment for MND is also vital and in 1999 the Association spent over £750,000 on research.

If anyone would like support our Race Against Time please contact Mrs E Wright, Secretary, Worcester Branch MNDA, 25 Crabtree Drive, Sidemoor, Bromsgrove, Worcs B61 8NX.

Worcester Branch Publicity Officer.
