WORCESTER City are setting their sights on six holiday points to lift them clear of trouble in the Dr Martens League Premier Division.

John Barton's men, who play Gloucester City at St George's Lane on Monday (3.00) before a trip to Tamworth on January 3, have run into form with four successive wins.

Barton is now looking for his players to continue in the same vein to move higher than their current position of 18th.

"We have got to show a higher level of confidence on the back of the results we have had," said the City boss.

"We have to be confident of getting a result and make sure we show the necessary character that enables us to get a result.

"In the situation we are in, you are always looking to catch the team above you. Crawley are a good example of where a good run can take you, although it hasn't taken them out of the mire."

City, who are likely to field the side that beat Ilkeston last Saturday, expect a bumper crowd for the derby clash.

Despite financial troubles, Gloucester are safely in mid-table, although they will be without former Worcester midfielder Paul Chenoweth through injury.

Barton said: "They have had some decent results recently and they were deserved winners against Burton a couple of weeks ago. Anyone who can do that deserves respect from us."
