BLOCKLEY Sports and Social Club's hockey players can't wait for the new winter season to start after earning promotion last term.
The Cotswold club hit back just a season after relegation from Severn League Division Two to instantly regain its status with an unbeaten league record that boasted 11 wins and three draws.
Victory in the end of season FISSC tournament capped a fabulous campaign and the new one has started successfully after a 2-0 win in the club's opening Summer League contest at Evesham High School.
However, fielding only ten players next time out against Evesham, Blockley lost by the odd goal of three despite another battling display.
A fortunate bounce allowed Evesham the chance to open the scoring and only good goalkeeping prevented an equaliser.
They weren't to be denied, though, and junior player Charlotte Hall's pass eventually set-up Kerry Jackson to make it 1-1.
Both teams now searched for the winner but a free hit to Evesham caught the Cotswolds girls off guard and a shot flew past the outstretched Blockley keeper's hands.
