THE Worcester News recognises there is plenty to be proud of in our great county - with its rolling hills, famous sons, historic landmarks and world-renowned industry.

And we are urging readers to help promote the green and pleasant land of Elgar's music and Worcester Royal Porcelain by joining in our Pride in Worcestershire campaign.

It is a chance to celebrate both Worcestershire's fascinating history and the thriving county it is today - and especially the people who make it that way.

So if you know someone who takes pride in Worcestershire - a volunteer who goes that extra mile, a shop-keeper who gives a little more, a friendly vicar or even a farmer who keeps our rural industry growing - let us know.

Darren Lambert and Laura Duffy - whose daughter was dubbed 'Amazing Amy' by nurses after battling life-threatening leukaemia - said they know only too well how generous Worcestershire people can be, after their appeal raised more than £11,000 for Birmingham Children's Hospital.

"People have been so supportive and friendly throughout, especially with our fund-raising bike ride, when about 75 volunteers turned up to help out," said Laura. "I go into Worcester now and people still ask me how Amy is. It says a lot for the county."

There are hundreds of unsung heroes whose selflessness and courage go unnoticed.

If you know someone who makes you proud to live in Worcestershire let us know why, by filling in the coupon and sending it to us.
