AMBIVALENCE? Yes, love and hate so fairly now evinced
Each side entrenched, implacable, and ever more convinced.
That come what may, upon the day, 'tis their from that succeeds
But have they thought yes, really thought, about what Droitwich needs?
A resurrected lido, somewhat better than the last
Costed, funded, managed, more keenly than the last?
Or should it be a playground, containing shallow pool
Mainly made for children to sunbathe and keep cool?
It seems to me, a simple fool, that as the matter stands
Deciding on the outcome should be in other hands
Why not engage, at some small cost (compared with what's involved)
An independent consultant whose remit thus devolved
Would be to cost refurbishment and the subsequent outlay
Required from council subsidy to keep the pool in play
Additionally, he would be tasked to view the other plan
Assessing demolition costs and, as an expert can,
Providing us with figures for construction and expense
In maintaining this alternative. Does this seem common sense?
There is, I hear another point with central funds involved
Whereby a hundred thousand pounds is lost if not resolved
A 'Wet Play Area' could be part of the eventual plan
But with an autumn deadline it needs some 'Action Man'
To have it built where it could serve in either of the schemes
Another reason to get on and thus fulfil those dreams.
Except for this last aspect, no contracts should be laid,
Until a final outcome, a decision, has been made
The acts that lost us Highfield, must not again take place
A logical and reasoned plan is needed in this case
