PARENTS looking for a new way to occupy their children this summer can take advantage of Malvern Theatres' programme.

Three week-long sessions will be held in July and August and will cater for both younger children and older teenagers.

English Touring Theatre will host the first summer school from Monday (July 25).

The nationally acclaimed company will use of host of fun drama games and exercises to explore scenes of well-known plays.

Participants will develop performance skills and an appreciation of a wide range of theatre writing and will have the chance to create their own pieces of drama.

There will be a session for seven to 10-year-olds and another for 11 to 14-year-olds.

Dance experts Dancefest will be in residence from August 1 giving youngsters the chance to work with professional dancers.

There will be a combination of contemporary dance, jazz and physical theatre, culminating in an informal final performance. Three daily sessions will accommodate seven to 10-year-olds, 11 to 13 years and 14 years and above.

For the more technically minded Malvern Theatre Players' theatre skills workshops include sessions on design, lighting and sound in addition to acting, voice and other performance related activities.

Two sessions will run for 11 to 13-year-olds and 14 to 18-year-olds from August 8.
