GOLDEN Cross angler Martin Ludlow fished brilliantly last Thursday to record the first 200lb catch of the season at Manor Farm Leisure at Harvington.

Fishing the Affordable Open on the Island Pool, Ludlow fished three metres up n the water, using 6ml pellet and feeding slop every put in.

The method obviously worked as he enjoyed a continuous catch rate for the five-hour contest with carp up to 1 lbs and tench up to 1lb.

Adding to the record catch and first prize was a severe case of sunburn!
