Marion opened the meeting and Greta read the minutes, following the reminder of the business our speaker for the evening Rosemary Prosser, was introduced to us.
Rosemary, a farmer's daughter, left school at the age of 16 years to complete a farm secretarial course at Studley College. About ten years later in 1970, looking for a career change, Rosemary applied to the police force and was the first married woman to be accepted by West Mercia. The following ten years were busy, interesting and varied, but by now on maternity leave, Rosemary decided to leave the force.
The post of secretary to the Trustees of Studley College Trust was offered to her and accepted. And later a move for the farming family, plus dairy herd, to Cornwall.
Now with the family back in Worcestershire, and as a result of a lifelong interest in horses, Rosemary is enjoying her latest challenge as a tour guide for Cheltenham Racecourse.
We thanked Rosemary, a WI member herself, for sharing many interesting, amusing and sometimes pretty hairy episodes of her life with us.
