PARENTS and teachers at a Kidderminster first school are waiting to hear if it is to continue in special measures next term.

Marlpool First School, in Marlpool Lane, which is due to merge with St Barnabas under the reorganisation in 2007, has been in special measures since April, 2004 and Ofsted inspectors have been visiting each term.

Chairman of the governors, Hugh Richards, said he was confident the school had made good progress and there was a very real prospect of it coming out of special measures.

Acting head, Fran Jones, who took over in February, 2003 is to stay on at least until the reorganisation date.
