BEWDLEY is a jewel of a town built beside the River Severn in Worcestershire. With the Severn Valley Railway running alongside, plus the West Midland Safari Park, it's a must for any tourist to visit.

We live in Bewdley and consider ourselves to be very happy here. On the morning of Monday, July 11 we went for a walk by Severnside North, along the river.

What a beautiful morning it was at 8am. Swans lazily meandering on the river, a lone rower getting some early morning practice, joggers, early morning strollers like us, people walking their dogs.

Everything looked so green and beautiful except for the rubbish bins. They spoil this idyllic scene, overflowing with chip papers, beer cans, empty pop bottles etc.

Our conversation was then not about the beauty, but about rubbish and how, when we were on holiday abroad, the cleaning and clearing was done very early in the morning.

Could we respectfully ask our councillors to look into this matter? I am sure they could find a solution to everyone's satisfaction, and give the town a better impression.

A while back the Shuttle/Times & News published a letter I wrote about a man I had seen walking round the Bewdley area.

I noticed that whenever I saw him, if there was any litter about, he would pick it up and put it in the nearest rubbish bin.

This went on for months. I still see the man, he is always very smart and he still has that pride in his town. He is still picking up other people's litter.

I called that man Mr Bewdley and I would like to nominate him for a Bewdley campaign (perhaps Keep Litter out of Bewdley).
