REDDITCH race outfit the Buildbase Knotts Magnum team claimed an impressive eighth place in the ultra competitive Metabo British Supersport Championship.

But the result could have been even better as rider Matt Llewellyn looked set for a top five finish until his Honda CBR600RR lost power in the scorching heat.

The Honda ace started well and looked comfortable at the back of the leading group of riders in eighth.

Unfortunately, with just a handful of laps left, there was a drop in power and Llewellyn was left struggling for top speed and acceleration around the fast 1.952-mile circuit.

The former Superbike race winner called on his experience to ride around the problem and clinched eighth place.

"It's actually a really frustrating result because we've been going well all weekend," Llewellyn said.

"In warm-up this morning I was fifth quickest and could easily match the pace of Leon Camier, who went on to win the race.

"The lap times were coming easily to start with but after a few laps the bike got really hot and started to go flat and there wasn't much else I could do"
