DRUNKEN tramps dossing down in a Kidderminster park are keeping a nearby resident awake at night.

Sue Hart, whose Silver Street home overlooks St George's Park, said she was being kept awake at night by noise from people drinking and sleeping there.

"With the warm nights I have to open the windows and they are keeping me awake," she said.

Mrs Hart said previous complaints from her and other neighbours about the tramps drinking in the park had been ignored, despite being highlighted in the Shuttle/Times & News.

Residents have called on the police and district council, which is responsible for the park, to take action.

Wyre Forest East beat manager, PC Bob Fearnall, said: "Allegations of people being drunk in a public place are taken very seriously.

"We have regular patrols in the area and appropriate action will be taken if people are deemed to be breaking the law or if there is a concern for their welfare."

Andrew Dickens, Wyre Forest District Council's head of cultural, leisure and commercial services said: "St George's Park is a popular attraction and, thankfully, there are very few problems of this nature.

"If there are any allegations of people breaking the law in our public parks Wyre Forest District Council would encourage people to report them to the police at Kidderminster Police Station on 08457 444 888 as they have the powers to take the appropriate action.

"Our parks section, on 01562 732938, would also welcome comments so we can continue to work with the community, visitors to the parks and the police to ensure everyone can enjoy our parks."
