KIDDERMINSTER town centre came to a standstill as shoppers and workers observed a two-minute silence in memory of the victims of the London bombings.

People stopped what they were doing and stood still to remember more than 50 people who died and 700 injured in the attacks, on Thursday, July 7.

In London, thousands of people stood side by side as buses stopped and shopping streets and towns across Wyre Forest also fell silent at noon, last Thursday.

Staff from the Shuttle/Times & News joined people in the streets and stood outside the office and pupils at St John's CE First School, Blakebrook, also observed the silence.

In Bewdley, people came out of the offices and shops and stood in the streets and traffic moving through the town stopped as drivers and passengers got out of their cars.

The silence was also observed in Stourport shops, including the Co-op Food Store in Lombard Street.
