A KIDDERMINSTER vehicle rental company is to help a bobby on his beat by supplying him with a new car.

Arriva Vehicle Rental in Stourport Road, Kiddermi-nster, has leased the police a Hyundai Getz for 12 months, free of charge.

The car is being used by Oldington and Foley Park's new beat manager PC Dean Cave to carry out his duties for the Pathfinder project.

The project aims to improve the quality of life of people in the area through improving education, housing and health, as well as tackling crime and anti - social behaviour.

"The car makes it easier for me to do my job, particularly getting about and going to see people, said PC Cave.

"It means I can spend a lot more time on Oldington and Foley Park. It is already making a difference and we are very grateful to Arriva."

Arriva manageress Carol Johnson said: "Huge efforts are being made to improve Oldington and Foley Park and we were pleased to be able to assist in any way we could."
