FEARS that the Christopher Whitehead High School saga could last another 10 years have been met with dismay from the school's headteacher and parents.

The Worcester News reported yesterday how Worcester MP Mike Foster revealed Worcestershire County Council was considering a 'patch-up job' on the existing school in Bromwich Road, in St John's, and waiting a decade for Worcester to expand before launching another relocation bid to Earl's Court Farm in Rushwick.

But headteacher Neil Morris urged the county council and Worcester City Council to decide the school's future once and for all.

"We need a decision," he said. "All the time I'm amazed with the entrenched views. There has go to be a way of talking to people and moving forwards. This is an opportunity for a 21st Century school and the kids and staff are suffering.

"It's very frustrating. When the election came back in May, you couldn't step for tripping over politicians. I thought 'Oh, there's a bit of impetus here'."

He appealed to councillors: "We've got fantastic results and attendance so we are keeping our side of the bargain. Come on, pull your fingers out and get on with it."

Tracy Heywood, from ANSWER - A New School With Excellent Resources - wants Chrissies to move to a new location.

"I can see why the county council may be thinking of doing a patch-up job as the kids desperately need better facilities than they currently have, but it is really frustrating that they still can't come to any kind of proper decision," she said.

"They just seem to be going nowhere."

Worcestershire county councillor Adrian Hardman, cabinet member for finance, said consultants engaged to look at all the options available had promised to bring back a report later in August.

"Once we have that report, we'll be in a much better position to talk with all concernedparties and make decisions on where we're going, he said.
