PARAMEDICS rescued a terrified elderly woman after she had accidentally reversed her car into a river, where it overturned - trapping her inside.

The women, who is in her late 60s, sounded her horn to attract the attention of members of the public, who then called the emergency services to come to the rescue.

After an ambulance arrived on the scene, a paramedic waded into the River Frome, beside Linton Mobile Home Park, in Bromyard, and managed to release the woman.

She was taken to the Hereford County Hospital for treatment, but was not seriously injured.

The incident took place on Sunday just after 8.30pm.

A spokeswoman for Hereford and Worcester NHS Ambulance Service Trust said: "The lady in the car was very frightened, and we are delighted that the quick-thinking and bravery of our staff meant that she was released very quickly.
