WE are often told young people lack organisation, discipline and respect for the past. On Saturday Alcester Grammar School's entirely student-run drama group, Absolute Beginners, proved such critics entirely wrong.
Entirely unaided, they put on a splendid production of As You Like It in the open air and it was a delight from beginning to end. There was not a weak performance from a single member of the cast - which is something that cannot always be said - even of professional productions!
As a parent I suppose I could be said to be biased but I was taken aback by the level of commitment, the standard of direction and the ease with which the students spoke and interpreted the lines of Shakespeare.
The school and the town of Alcester should be proud of them.
