Prudden Road Surfacing League

IN THE final scheduled week of fixtures, Stratford B celebrated their title triumph with a 3-1 victory over Claverdon.

That one point gained by the losers, though, proved crucial in their fight against the drop.

Top Stratford pair Callum Bailey and Rob Slatter had little trouble disposing of Richard Butler and James Courier (Claverdon) 6-2, 6-2 and Andy Williams and Nigel Bacon by the same score.

Stratford captain Tim Page and Simon West then overcame Williams and Bacon 6-2, 6-3 but they were then stopped in their tracks by an heroic effort by Claverdon captain Butler and Courier who were rewarded for their efforts with a 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 success.

Inkberrow were also celebrating after sealing runners-up spot with an emphatic victory over Henley.

Alex Woodbridge and Tom Trott defeated both Dave Vickers and Tom Holland and Dave Howard and Chris Kirby 6-0, 6-3.

Adam Hill and Graeme Rankin get the better of Howard and Kirby 6-0, 6-2 and Vickers and Holland 6-0, 6-1.

This result looked set to send Henley down but they were saved when Chipping Campden went down 4-0 to Studley and are relegated after only one season in the top flight.

Other result: Littleton 3, Stratford C 1.

The top three teams in Division One all recorded 3-1 victories leaving FISSC and Shipston joint top with 38 points and both will be promoted to the Premier Division.

However, it's FISSC who will take the title purely on the basis that they took one more set than Shipston in the two meetings between the clubs.

Bidford put up a valiant challenge for promotion but finished just three points short.

At the other end of the alongside Stratford D, for relegation.

Division Two champions Evesham easily disposed of Claverdon B 4-0 and condemned them to Division Three action next summer.

Stratford E only required a draw over Aston Cantlow to finish runners-up and claim the other promotion spot. However, it was Cantlow who won 3-1 and they will now join Evesham in Division One in 2006.

Other results: Inkberrow B 2, HDA 2; Ilmington 3, Alcester 1.

Moreton finished the season undefeated as Division Three champions after a 3-1 victory over Chipping Cam-pden B.

Studley B will join them in the second division next year as they finished runners-up despite being held to a draw by Shipston B who were nevertheless relegated.

The only other fixture saw Bidford B trounce near neig-hbours Littleton C 4-0 to not only move out of the relegation zone but finish third in the table - an indication of how close all the mid table sides were.

Results - Division Four: Snitterfield 2, Whitnash 2; Ardencote Manor 0, Ullenhall 4; Ardencote Manor 4, Harbury 0; Harbury 1, Claverdon C 3.
