A GAMBIAN teacher who was staying in Redditch during an exchange trip has gone missing just days before he was due to fly home.

Police are appealing for information about Bubacarr Sanyang (pictured above) who went missing during a day-trip to Birmingham on July 15.

The secondary school teacher was staying in Willow Way, Batchley and was due to fly home on July 22.

Mr Sanyang is black and of slim build. He is 5ft 7ins tall with black short shaved hair and wispy hair on his chin. He has brown eyes and was wearing a long off-white tunic, Nike trainers and was carrying a red rucksack.

Pc Fergus Green of Redditch police said: "He was last seen in the Steelhouse Lane area of Birmingham, when he became separated from the rest of the party.

"He speaks good English so what happened to him is a mystery and very concerning."

Pc Green said he has no relatives in Britain, although checks have been carried out in the Nottingham area where he has friends.

"His four students are all safe and well, and are very concerned about their teacher," he added.
