A CHURCH Hill man has made a heartfelt plea to the person who burgled his home to return irreplaceable items of sentimental value.

Brian Egerton, 50, is appealing for the safe return of two of the precious items taken during a burglary of his home in Hartlebury Close.

"A number of items were taken during the robbery and I would obviously like them all back. I do however realise that is not a realistic possibility, so I ask the burglar to return two specific items."

He has appealed for the return of his wife's silver engagement ring, which was taken during the raid on June 29.

"This has particular significance as it is our silver wedding anniversary this year. My wife is very upset about the burglary but especially the loss of the ring. The value of the ring is minimal compared to the emotional attachment she has to it," said Mr Egerton.

He is also requesting for the return of his digital camera, which was a 50th birthday present from his wife. The memory stick taken with the camera featured treasured photographs of Mr Egerton's recent graduation from the Open University.

"The camera contains photographs that I would very much like to keep for posterity and to remind me that the six years hard work was worth all the effort."

Mr Egerton added: "I ask the burglar to look into their own conscience and realise the hurt they are causing. I want them to look at their own family and realise they would not want such hurt caused to them, then do something positive and return as many of the stolen items as they can."

Redditch police confirmed they were continuing to investigate the burglary and anyone with information can call them on 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
