MORE people suffering from minor injuries are taking advantage of the improved opening hours at Bromsgrove's Princess of Wales hospital.
Health chiefs say it is too early to come up with precise figures, but early indications are that the additional hours and weekend service is meeting the needs of local people.
It is also relieving pressure on the service offered at the Alexandra hospital in Redditch.
The improvements, which mean the Stourbridge Road unit is now open every day of the year, were made after extensive consultations with various organisations to assess the changing needs of the community.
The redecorated facility was opened by Mary Crawford - the unit's retired former ward manager. The new hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and weekends noon to 8pm.
