Our resident, Mrs Prior, was very pleased to welcome four new members to our meeting, and also to welcome two new committee members.

Mrs Denning, as usual, had prepared a lovely table decoration, and, incidentally, won first prize in the competition - an egg-cup-full of flowers.

Mrs Prior and Mrs Radford had attended the AGM at the Albert Hall in London and Mrs Prior read out the letter from the Link Reporter describing the atmosphere and giving us the results of the various items discussed.

Coming to the president's report, Mrs Prior was pleased to announce that our own Christmas cards are at the printers and will be on sale by September. There will not be a meeting in July, but a garden party instead on August 10 in the village hall if wet. September 4 is the date of Burcot Village Fete, and we shall be having our usual cake and crafts stalls, and October 8 is the day of our craft fair - further details later.

Our speaker for the afternoon was Mel Thomas, his subject being life begins at 60. It was a beautifully arranged talk, including a lovely bit of Welsh male voice choir singing, and kept us all spell-bound.

The meeting closed with a reminder of the next meeting, and the subject of the competition.
