A SIMILAR ending to the first team match saw the second strings of Evesham and Pershore play out a draw at The Bottoms.
The visitors dominated proceedings after Pershore had invited Evesham to bat on a good pitch.
Henry Newman fell to the fifth ball of the first over, but after that there was no further success for the home attack.
Matt Jackson and Mike Granacki, returning after long absence from injury, shared an unbeaten stand of 266. Both played chanceless knocks and reached undefeated centuries with Jackson scoring 106 and Granacki 107.
Evesham declared after 47 overs to give them more overs to bowl Pershore out, but this proved to no avail.
The visiting bowlers had a good start with Darren Key bowling particularly well and receiving sound support from James Cutler as the reply stuttered to 30-3.
The home batsmen dug in but Pedley, Layton and Hutton nibbled away and, with 19 overs to go and seven wickets down, Pershore were staring defeat in the face.
However, Luke Dalley continued to bat well for his unbeaten 58, while John Bro-okes defended obstinately and, that combined with a slow blameless pitch prevented a positive conclusion.
