THE annual Cheltenham Cricket Festival gets under way next Wednesday - an occasion for hoards of eager spectators to descend on the College Ground and witness some top-class action.

Lining up to face Gloucestershire this year are Hampshire and Sussex in the Frizzell County Championship and Essex Eagles, Hampshire Hawks and Notting-hamshire Outlaws in the Totesport League.

There is also a special NatWest Women's International clash between England and Australia on Monday, August 15.

The event, sponsored by the Cheltenham and Gloucester, starts with a four-day match against Hampshire (3-6) that is followed by the one-day game on Sunday, August 7.

Two days later, Nottinghamshire are the visitors for a second 45-overs-per-side contest prior to the County Championship clash with Sussex (10-13).

Essex are the Sunday opponents on August 14 for the second Totesport League fixture.
