FORMER player Darrell Will-iams (left) has been appointed Ledbury's director of rugby.

The 39-year-old links up with coach Rob Collins, having previously worked as director of junior rugby.

Williams' responsibilities will include recruiting players and bolstering numbers at training. He said: "The role is mostly about putting a more formal structure in place and determining what the club's needs are to be more successful on the rugby field.

"This involves working with the junior section to ensure that by the time that the youngest of our players reach the senior level they are ready to make a smooth transition into senior rugby."

Williams played most of his rugby in south Wales and trained with Pontypridd RFC on several occasions.

And now he's looking forward to getting the most out of the players. He said: "There are a squad of players who want to play for Ledbury. Some have greater aspirations than others but every player will be given the opportunity to play at the highest level his talent affords within the club."
