EVESHAM United picked up their best pre-season victory so far with a 2-1 win over Nationwide North side Moor Green at Common Road last night.

Steve Duncan and Richard Ball struck the goals for their third 2-1 friendly success after beating Alvechurch and Leamington.

Evesham, with Jermaine Clarke returning for his first 45 minutes following a bout of mumps, took just eight minutes to go ahead.

Duncan put away a free header from Gavin O'Toole's corner and then Ball hit the post in the second-half from a free-kick with Jae Martin burying the rebound but being ruled offside.

The prolific Ball eventually found the net five minutes from time with a clinical 15-yard finish to punish a defensive error.

Disappointing Moors did force one excellent stop from 'keeper Tim Clarke before Jerome Grandison's late consolation strike.

Meanwhile, Malvern Town slipped up with a 3-2 defeat at lower-ranked Pershore Town last night after leaping two goals ahead.

Trialist Paul Edwards, a former Oldbury striker, put Malvern in front with two goals in the first 30 minutes from Des Cox assists.

But Malvern lost Cox and Mark Goodman, playing against his former club, to injury with Andy Bird scoring first for Pershore with a penalty.

The visitors deserved their half-time lead but were sunk by two Richard Beadle goals in the second period.
