PEOPLE who want to convert their loft or build an extension could have their blueprints approved faster after the Government dished out cash to speed up the planning process.

Local authorities in Worcestershire and Here-fordshire are set for a slice of £170m designed to reward local authorities for progress in online planning, speed in determining applications, improving housing stock provision, and developing plans for their communities.

Worcester City Council is the area's biggest winner, receiving £483,671, while Malvern Hills District Council has been awarded £211,473. Wychavon District Council was granted £150,153, Wyre Forest District Council received £378,805 and Herefordshire Council was awarded £101,355. Worcestershire County Council has also been granted £30,551.

Planning Minister Yvette Cooper said: "The £170m grant aid is the largest so far, up £40m on last year."
