A 'FLAMENCO Latin Rock' band with members hailing from Bromsgrove are set for a homecoming gig before they embark on an international tour on the back of re-recording their latest album.

Gypsy Pistoleros have also signed a new record deal with Evil Boy Records and are awaiting the worldwide release of their album Wild, Beautiful and Los Damned in September.

The band features bassist Ian Walker, from Teeswater Close, and vocalist Lee J from Holly Road.

The pair were original founders of Bromsgrove band The Ice Babies in the late 1980s.

Gypsy Pistoleros are now preparing to tour Spain from October 7 to 13 and Italy between October 15 and 21 with 80s icons The Mission.

The band will then return to Spain in November to play with rock giants Skid Row.

However, fans in the town will have a chance to see the band during a tour warm up gig this month.

They will play a free open-air show at Bromsgrove Cricket Club, St Godwalds Road, on Friday, July 29 at 8pm.

Neil Phillips on guitar and drummer Scott Garrett complete band the line-up.

Bromsgrove band member Ian Walker said: "It is our last gig before the tour and should have a great atmosphere.

"We would not normally play at a venue as small but it is outdoors and should help us get used to the feeling of playing open air gigs, which we will be doing in Spain at football stadiums.

"I also hope playing in Bromsgrove means old fans of The Ice Babies realise some of us are still around and have not got proper jobs."
