RICHARD Wilkinson is set to be back in time for Barnt Green CC's re-arranged Cockspur National Knockout Cup quarterfinal at home to Widnes on Sunday, July 31.

The batsman is set to make a last minute dash on his return from a family holiday for the game, which is one of Green's biggest of the season so far.

The quarterfinal had been scheduled for Sunday, July 24, but was cancelled because of torrential rain.

With county players Roger Sillence and David Wigley ineligible to play the match the availability of Wilkinson is a huge boost for the side.

Team manager Paul Clarke said: "Richard should be back to play and that's a big boost."

The Green face another crucial weekend as they go in search of silverware on two fronts.

On Saturday, July 30 Green come face-to-face with fellow title challengers Knowle and Dorridge at home (1.30pm start).

Clarke said: "Knowle have been the favourites for the title since the start.

"They haven't been top of the table but they are in the chasing pack and are a real threat."

Green though will be in confident mood of keeping their place at the top of the table after being the hardest team to beat in the Birmingham and District League Premier Division.

Barnt Green have lost only once all season and have learnt the knack of drawing matches when they look on the ropes.

Clarke said: "Consistency has been the key for us all season.

"We are capable of grinding out results week in and week out."
