THE sound of music has boosted Operation Covert by £650 after soul band, Blind Lemon, rocked a Kidderminster social club.

Blind Lemon guitarist, Nick McCarthy, told the Shuttle/Times and News that a great night had been had by all who attended the gig, last month, and he and other band members were "delighted" with the amount they raised.

"Obviously, we were chuffed that we could do something to help - it was a great night," he said.

The charity concert was held at Gilt Edge Social Club on Zortech Avenue on June 17, and he added: "It was packed out and a nice night, weatherwise, so we were very pleased."

Mr McCarthy said the band enjoyed generating funds for local charities - having raised £2,000 for Kemp Hospice when they celebrated their 10th anniversary two years ago - and did not rule out the possibility of future gigs in aid of the quest to rebuild the Rhydd Covert Scout centre.
