A STOLEN horsebox worth £35,000 has left a couple from Harvington completely horrified.

Philip and Kaye Morris, from Grange Lane had their 'unique' horsebox stolen from their stables in Harvington last Saturday, between 2.40am and 3.15am.

Thieves gained access to the lorry, which was parked in a stable yard at the rear of the property before turning the vehicle in a paddock and driving into Grange Lane. The couple did not realise their horsebox was missing until Mrs Morris checked on her horses at 7am on Saturday.

Mr Morris said: "We normally hear things when there's a sound, or the dogs bark or the horses but that day there was nothing. We're simply horrified by the theft."

The silver and gun-metal Iveco-Ford, horsebox, registration R18LYG contained saddles, bridles and other tack from the stables at Harvington. The horsebox also has the word HORSES on the rear and front carrying the logo RPB. The stolen horse tack, bridles and saddles are estimated to be valued at £5,000.

Mrs Morris has been left unable to take her horses to compete in competitions or take part in any training events, which has left her devastated.

Mr Morris added: "Horses mean a lot to my wife and the theft has left her devastated. The box was so unique, we had the colours, fabric and compartments built to our taste. That's something that cannot be replaced." Police would like to hear from anyone who may seen the horsebox being driven in the Harvington area at the time of theft, or who has subsequently may have been invited to buy a saddlery.
