WYRE Forest cycle racing club produced some superb performances to take the fastest team prize in the Abergavenny 10 mile time trial at Raglan, South Wales.

Dave Wood was the club's quickest rider, making the most of perfect racing conditions to finish in 22 minutes and five seconds, just four seconds outside his personal best. He was eight overall out of 85 riders.

Richard Pedersen produced a personal best of 23-16 to finish second fastest, closely followed by Karl Davies with another personal best of 23-20 giving the team a winning time of 1-08-41.

Wood continued his good form with ninth place overall in the Ross 25-mile time trial with a time of 58-53 in windy conditions.

Davies rode strongly to finish in 1-01-01 and Howard Jones returned to competition after a virus to finish in 1-09-34.

Dave Barnes rode to two new personal best times and two new club records when he finished third overall in a 25-mile race at Glenneath, South Wales, clocking 53-40.

He rounded the week off with an amazing 20-37 in a 10-mile time trial in Cambridge behind overall winner and Olympic medallist Tony Gibb who finished in 19-21.

Kris Doms put in a superb winning performance in the latest round of the club time trial competition at Warndon on Tuesday evening, completing the 10 mile course in a new personal best time of 23-03.

Andy Convery was next in 23-19, followed by John Parker with 23-30. Other times were Wood 23-33, Davies 24-55, Jonathon Higgins 26-31, Brian Clarke 26-32, Ruth Finney 27-56, Mike Clackson 28-01, Chris Edmonds 28-51, Steve Clews 29-21 and Sally Clews 34-47. Ruth and Phil Blacker rode their tandem to a time of 24-11.
