DEFIBRILLATOR: Ilmington will soon have its own defibrillator - the important machine that can save lives in the event of a cardiac arrest. The British Heart Foundation has approved the application and made a grant of £467.65 - half the cost of the machine. The other half of the cost is available from generous donations from villagers and the proceeds of the spring concert by the Tarantara choir. The assessors at the British Heart Foundation have commented that it was a good application that will truly improve response time in this rural area. Meetings will be arranged in the village hall in the autumn - one to brief the responders who will operate the scheme and the organisers. The second meeting will explain the workings of the defibrillator to villagers.
