BRINTONS beat Malvern by 222 runs on Sunday, in their Division Six meeting.

Lee Waldron was the Brintons hero, hitting 35, and taking 5-10, which included a hat-trick.

Andy Jones added 61 and Seb Hipkins 47, while Gavin Bryan took 4-20.

Kidderminster Victoria

KIDDERMINSTER Victoria's County League firsts bounced back from a poor run of form in Division Two with an emphatic 128-run victory over leaders Barnards Green.

Asked to bat first, KVCC amassed 270-8, with Steve Bilboe (54) and Phil Shaw (57) leading the way in a goodbatting display.

In reply Barnards never really got going and were bowled out for 142, with Dave Banister taking 5-45, to help KVCC take the maximum 24 points.

l KVCC's County League seconds were not so successful as they suffered a seven-run defeat at Barnards Green in the Second XI Division Two.

In reply to Barnards total of 277-5, KVCC scored 270, with Tom Brain, in his first match for the club, hitting 57, and Tom Sheriff 109. Andy Cavendish added 36.

Saturday fixtures: KVCC v Belbroughton, Belbroughton 2nd v KVCC 2nd , KVCC 3rd v Old Hill (all 1.30pm).

l KVCC's County League thirds secured a crucial 20 points with victory in their top of the table clash at Division Six rivals Old Elizabethans. Put into bat the hosts posted a respectable total of 215-9.

Lee Daniels and Mike Kirby Davies bowled well but Aussie Kyle McAlister was the pick with a superb 12-over return of 4-34, mixing excellent control with targeted aggression. KVCC were indebted to openers Cook (37) and Paul Edwards (52) while James Rine (31) and McAlister (19) rebuilt the innings after amiddle order wobble.

A measured knock of 40 not out from Kevin Amos to led KVCC to a three-wicket victory with just seven balls remaining.

Bewdley

BEWDLEY first team captain Ben Jones was left ruing his decision to put Luctonians into bat as they slumped to a losing draw in Division One.

As the wicket became increasingly unreliable, his bowlers sent down too many four-balls and Luctonians eventually ended on 268-6.

Tom Baylis starred with the ball, finishing with figures of 3-68, including the prized scalp of G Powell, while he was ably supported by Robert Coombes with 2-66.

Luctonians' bowlers kept to a good line and length, and despite knocks of 34 from Jono Boult and 47 from Simon Mauger, Bewdley could only clock up 147-9.

l Luctonians seconds claimed a one-wicket victory at Bewdley seconds in a topsy-turvy match. Bewdley were batting well en-route to a total of 198-5 with useful knocks from David Meek (38), David Jones (78) and Andy Robinson (51 no).

Despite superb bowling by Mark Hudson and Gareth Metcalf, which saw seven wickets fall for 18 runs, Luctonians were able to make it over the winning line with a 67-run last wicket stand.

Cookley

Cookley had their sights set on only their second Division Two win of the season, but it wasn't to be as they were made to hang on for a losing draw at Belbroughton. With the home side batting first, Cookley restricted them to 221-8 from their 50 overs.

From a comfortable winning position, with Kiwi John Blakeley at the wicket, Cookley eventually managed to finish seven runs short of their total with one wicket remaining, the chase hinging on a crucial run out of the New Zealander, who made 59.

l The second team fared better at Lea Lane, recording a solid victory over their Belbroughton counterparts.

With some tight and disciplined bowling, the visitors were restricted to 179-8 from their 50 overs. In reply, Cookley lost wickets at regular intervals but managed to reach the target with just a matter of balls remaining, with youngster Ben Quinlan hitting 42.

Stourport

STOURPORT came home from Division Three rivals Enville with eight points on Saturday after settling for a losing draw.

Enville posted a total of 205-8, with M Heathcote 40no, J Howells 40 and J Smith 39 the main contributors. There was good bowling from Adam Sellick and Andy Platt.

In reply Stourport were 89-7 at one stage, but a partnership between Dave Cook (72no) and Kevin Hughes, almost turned the game around. Mark Moss added 27 and Sellick 20 in the final total of 187-8.

l The seconds took 20 points from a superb seven-wicket win over visitors Enville in a much improved display of bowling and fielding. Stourport put Enville in to bat and they posted a total of 181-7.

The hosts cruised to victory for the loss of three wickets, with Clive Judd hitting 75no, James Taylor providing support. Kevin Haycock's 28no saw Stourport home.

The Annual Six-a-side at Walshes Meadow was won by Andy's Barbers, with Chainwire runners-up.

Chainwire

CHAINWIRE hung on for a draw against Belbroughton in a high-scoring Division Five fixture which saw the teams hit 577 runs being scored between them.

Belbroughton were put in to bat and thanks to some brilliant batting from D Scriven (151 no) and G Ross (84) were able to declare on 319-6 off 38 overs. Stephen James was the pick of the Chainwire bowlers, taking 4-76.

In reply Chainwire batted steadily, with opener James hitting 40, Trevor Paddock making 44 and J Goode contributing 39 as they made 258-7, claiming eight points.
